Patrick Nelson Named Interim Executive Director of Advocates for Children

Patrick Nelson, Community Redevelopment Coordinator with Bartow County, has been named interim executive director of Advocates for Children. During the search for a permanent president and CEO, Nelson will fill the role recently vacated by Karen White.

The Advocates for Children board of trustees officially welcomed Nelson to the organization at their meeting on March 20, 2018.

The search for a permanent president and CEO is expected to take up to six months. Board members have contracted with Janet Tharp of J&L Advisors to lead the search.

Nelson is a lifelong resident of Bartow County. His mother, Terry Nelson, was Advocates’ first executive director. As the current chairman of the Cartersville-Bartow Community Foundation, chairman of Bartow Collaborative, chairman of BLESS Coalition, and president of the Rotary Club of Etowah, Nelson is active in the local community. He lives in Cartersville with his wife, Bree, and their two sons. Nelson will continue in his role with Bartow County while serving as the interim executive director of Advocates.
