In this Holiday Season, we want to share with you how your support is empowering families and youth to overcome the impact of child abuse and neglect.
Hope in Your Home
Hope in Your Home is designed to provide parenting guidance to families through an evidence-based curriculum aiding childhood development and by connecting families with community resources. Three programs are available to families: First Steps, Parents as Teachers, and the Positive Parenting Program. The outcome is to build strong, healthy relationships by equipping parents and caregivers with strategies to help manage behavior and build a positive, nurturing environment. This is one of Advocates’ prevention programs that aims to ensure positive early development in children and prevent child maltreatment from occurring in the first place.
RISE Youth Independent Housing
RISE Youth Independent Housing focuses on helping young adults living in homelessness who are already suffering the consequences of past abuse and neglect. Using professional case management, RISE helps homeless youth ages 18-24, by moving them into permanent housing. Our program provides temporary rental assistance, transportation, and childcare. We also help youth with obtaining and enhancing life skills through job readiness, education, and referrals to local resources to ensure they achieve self-sufficiency at the end of their tenure in the program. In its first year of operation, RISE moved 23 youth-headed households out of homelessness and a total of 42 people into permanent housing.
