How Can You Help?

Give a financial gift for the operating support of Advocates, or for a particular project or program. A donation in honor or memory of a loved one can be a beautiful tribute and your gift will be acknowledged to the honoree or family. You can donate securely using our online form. If your company provides matching funds to personal financial donations, please contact us to allow us to help you leverage your generosity.

Consider including Advocates for Children in your estate plans. You will ensure that future generations of children will be cared for, and there might be important tax advantages for you and your heirs. If interested, please contact Karen White at Karen@AdvoChild.org or 770-387-1143.

Giving Feels Good

Donors are partners with us in making young people’s lives safer and more hopeful, and we appreciate everyone who joins us in this important work! Meeting the needs of our $1.6 million budget means your donations and the donations from businesses, civic and faith groups and individuals are essential to keeping our doors open and continuing to take care of the young people we serve. As is often the case, when times are hard the needs go up, but the funds go down. We pray that we will never have to say to a child, “I’m sorry, we can’t help you.”

Wish List

Below are a list of things we need for the Flowering Branch Children's Shelter, the Children's Advocacy Center and CASA. There are both small and large items on the list, and anything that you would like to donate would be most appreciated!

Items the kids enjoy having on hand in the kitchen:

Bottled water, fruit juices and sports drinks

Granola Bars

Nuts (cashews, peanuts or almonds)

Fruit snacks, apple slices with caramel, carrots with ranch dressing, yogurt covered raisins

Crackers and pretzels with cheese

Beef jerky (plain and teriyaki flavored)

The kids here at the shelter always enjoy a nice outing! We would love gift certificates to places where they can skate, bowl, putt-putt, or visit Stone Mountain, Mountasia and especially Carmike Cinemas. We also always need gift cards to places like:

Target

TJ Maxx

Walmart

K-Mart

McDonald’s

Kohl’s

The following items are always in high demand:

Toilet tissue

Electric and hand-held can openers

Paper towels

Cleaning products

High efficiency laundry detergent

Trash bags (50 gallon)

Paper products (plates, napkins)

Foil, plastic wrap, zip-lock bags (not gallon ones)

White t-shirts and undergarments (for girls and boys ages 10 and up?

Tupperware (all sizes)

Batteries (AA)

Ankle socks (for boys and girls)

20 new corporate partners and event sponsors and volunteers needed

First Steps volunteers to visit new moms in the hospital an hour a week

Rainbows groups facilitators to help children in the grieving process

Someone to add a window and electricity to our storage “hut”

Individuals or groups to bring a meal to Flowering Branch

Members for the Duck Derby and Spring Benefit committees

Members for Advocates Young Professionals

Strip and restain the deck at the CAC
