Newman House… Coming Late 2024

Newman House, slated to open in late 2024, is the latest way we are working to meet the unique needs of unhoused youth. Located on adjacent property to our Prevention and Advocacy Center in Cartersville, Newman House will provide transitional and emergency housing and drop-in services for unhoused youth ages 10-24. Newman House will stand as an inclusive and empowering space where every young person, regardless of their background, can embrace their inherent value and limitless potential.

The Newman House is named after Nancy Newman, one of the founders of Advocates for Children. In 1983, Mrs. Newman was instrumental in creating a safe haven for children in Bartow County. Over the past forty years, her vision has been realized as Advocates has expanded our programs to serve children and families throughout Northwest Georgia. Advocates is honored to have the opportunity to recognize the heart and vision of Mrs. Newman and to celebrate the many lives which have been transformed throughout our history.

Learn About the Build Families. Protect Children. Capital Campaign

The skyrocketing number of abused children is a red flag for all of us who love young people and want them to thrive. Each year, Georgia reports 127,000 cases of abuse and lands near the bottom of all states in child well-being. We have to take more action.

While we serve many, we could be serving more…. and bringing related services together. Because we are on separate campuses, our program could be more easily accessible. Currently, some families are confused and frustrated about where they can turn for help.

With our region predicted to experience population growth of nearly 21% over the next few years, Advocates must ACT NOW to improve and expand its services and ensure children and their families can grow and thrive in north Georgia.

Advocates for Children is the leading service provider dedicated to the prevention of child abuse in the Northwest Georgia region. Based in Cartersville, we extend a comprehensive umbrella of services focused on advocacy, prevention and residential services that positively impact the lives of children, youth and families.

The residents of our area are thankful we offer critical safety from abusers, valuable education to partner organizations and caregivers, and trained volunteer court-appointed advocates to represent and support children in foster care.

Additionally, we provide safe and supportive housing for foster care youths and young adults who are experiencing homelessness or have aged out of the foster care system.

The Solution Needs You

Prevention is the best deterrent to child abuse. Our approach is to have parents and children engaged in education programs designed to prevent child abuse before it occurs.

To help us realize our vision for families, we have launched a strategic capital campaign to raise
$4.6 million to invest in our much-needed growth by March 2024.

Purchase and renovate a building, located on Hwy 41/Joe Frank Harris Pkwy, to create a central headquarters to house all of Advocates’ prevention, education and advocacy programs. Families will gain convenient access to services and have their needs met at one trauma-reducing location.

Renovate our existing property located at 113 Douglas Street (Newman House) to create a safe home environment for children in foster care or who are experiencing homelessness.

Invest in our endowment fund and provide an on-going revenue stream for program operations.

Change the
life of a child

Few causes are as significant as preventing and decreasing the trauma of child abuse. When you support this meaningful campaign, you are literally transforming lives.

Together we will create a better environment for vulnerable children in our community. If you care and want to be part of the solution, please consider a one-time special investment to help our young clients and their families.

The children need your support.
