As Advocates experiences growth, our commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families in the region grows as well. Addressing the urgent issue of rural youth homelessness is a top priority, leading us to enhance our initiatives. Advocates stands out as the sole agency in northwest Georgia providing dedicated housing for youth.
Our upcoming project, Newman House, is poised to address this concern comprehensively. This facility will serve as a drop-in center for runaway and homeless youth aged 14-24, emergency housing for children aged 7–17, and long-term housing for young adults aged 14-24 experiencing homelessness along with their children. Construction is scheduled to commence early in 2024, with the goal of opening Newman House to children and families in the fall of 2024.
The construction of Newman House in conjunction with the renovation and opening of Advocates for Children’s Advocacy and Prevention Center is part of the Advocate’s Build Families. Protect Children. Capital Campaign. The $4.6 million capital campaign, which is scheduled to conclude in 2024, was funded through the generosity of our community and corporate partners and has been instrumental in providing safe, welcoming spaces for the children and families served by Advocates for Children.
