“As a single woman raising two children, it has always been important to me to make sure my children have resources and a toolbox that they can refer to and expand as they grow through life. I came to Advocates just to seek guidance on parenting my 2 through the childhood years.

The greatest impact so far has been the reassurance that I am not alone, not a failure as a mom, and that its ok, not to be ok. I’ve felt empowered and strengthened even in my weaknesses. It has also been great having the strong voice of support, comfort and reasoning that D’von has offered. It’s been both comforting and confirming, having the necessary conversations, and redefining some parts of my parenting spectrum. I want to help other parents. I want to be able to help others actualize their potential to parent consciously and intentionally. I want to help other parents feel secure in their parenting. I want them to know they aren’t alone and that they can learn through mistakes without judgement. In my household, I want to continue to be a parent for my children, especially in difficult times. My goal is to keep the lines of communication open, to listen more, and listen better. These classes have aligned with the journey I’ve been on to make sure my children know that they matter, they are heard, and they are valued. Going through these activities has been refreshing and a solid reminder of how to actively continue to thrive and reach my parenting goals.” – Dye Family
