Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter

Flowering Branch Children's Shelter

Attached to the Advocates for Children administrative offices, the Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter is a residential program for abused, neglected, and runaway youth. Its goal is to assess and stabilize these youth in the community by partnering with non-abusing parents, relatives, foster parents, and adoptive families, all while maintaining community ties such as original school placement.

The children’s shelter provides a safe, nurturing home for up to 13 children (ages 10-18 years old) at one time. Residents are placed at the shelter through the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) or as runaway homeless youth. Flowering Branch’s dedicated staff provides care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Youth receive case management services, individual and family counseling, development of social and independent living skills, and assistance with achieving a high school diploma, GED, and entrance into college.

In addition to basic care, residents are enriched by a variety of provided services such as homework/tutoring assistance and involvement in recreational activities such as horseback riding, competitive and non-competitive sports, and educational field trips.

There are multiple ways to help and provide for a wonderful home for residents at Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter, including donating items requested on the shelter’s wish list, providing meals for the residents, or volunteering.
